snap shots
These subjects are drawn from snap shots. Photos that I might find buried in a box, yellowing in a photo album, or increasingly, floating around the internet in batch uploads after a day at the beach or a night on the town.
As I spend time with these images of strangers I find that most tell a clear story.
But occasionally there is an image that is less clear.
On the surface I don’t know exactly what is going on.
I may not be able to ascertain what the people are feeling, or thinking, or even what they are doing.
But beneath the surface of the image there is a deeper recognition that is beyond the personal.
Beyond the seeming separation of you and I.
Alive with questions.
These are the images that attract me.
